Here we are in 2010 - come on you guys in the northern hemisphere - Catch Up!
We started the year off with breakfast on the James' veranda and then Maureen (Marks Mum) and I went to a friends place to pick Avocados!
Mark and I went to serve in Ecuador as needgreaters in 2008. Our daughter Amanda joined us in 2010 and is serving in the Chinese group in Cuenca. Aaron, our son has also taken on the challenge of learning the language and culture of this beautiful land and arrived in July 2011. We had to return to New Zealand in 2012 but have arranged things to be able to return to Ecuador August 2013

Just to show you that Mark doesn't just work all the time - the other day he got to throw a line out down at the bottom of the farm. Of course he didn't catch anything - the tide was out - but the peace and quiet down at that spot can re energize anyone.. Also included the jumping shot to show Chad and Doug - just how Kiwis commit to the jump when I ask them to! He He!
WEEK THREE
It has been another busy week with the Circuit Pioneer Meeting and Circuit Assembly in Auckland (that's our biggest city about 2 and 1/2 hours by car away). It was an awesome weekend and we sure had fun seeing all the old friends. Of course I got sick of saying the same thing "Yes we are back - but not for long!"
Out in service in the country the other day and managed to get a few shots to give you an idea of what our territory is like. When we stopped for a cup of coffee (oh the luxury) - I almost thought we were in Ecuador when all the chickens came a running!! Actually they are not chickens - they are Roosters and the spot where we were is known for people dropping off the unwanted - the place is now over run with them but they are obviously well fed and happy (especially when the alternative would have been the pot eh?)

Week Two
The elders in our old congo kindly invited us along to their pioneer meeting tonight and it was very nice to be with them. I think I needed the pep talk as life here seems to be overtaking me. Of course it's all about the wedding at the moment so things should settle down after that's over and done with.
We had our end of year meeting early to accommodate Mark and I and I wanted to show you our group. There is actually 18 - you can only see 17 as one of the sisters is a master at hiding - she hates photos. Some of you may recognize Christian (5th from left standing) he has just been appointed as a pioneer along with 4 other young men. Christian is still going to school so has to work very hard for his hours. He is also a fatherless and motherless boy - having been brought up by his grandmother when he was abandoned at 3 years old. She obviously did an awesome job!
This photo cracks me up - I know I have said it before how much we feel like giants but it's still funny all the same! Especially Hermano Jacinto tucked under Mark's armpit - it's hilarious. This family has only recently moved into our congregation (even though they have been in our territory for ages). They are really cute and so zealous. The boys are both baptized and although very quiet lads, they are slowly coming out of their shells.

Oh well I'm up now so I might as well tell you about our day yesterday. Mark had the talk at the English Meeting so that filled our morning up. As we always do we went out to lunch with a few of the friends. We have a brother and sister in our congo that own a restuarant and I had wanted to eat there before we left. So with trepidation (you never quite know what the situation will be ie cleanliness and what the food will be like) I suggested we go there. Thankfully William and Sandra run a pretty good place. Everyone loved the food and the atmosphere was great.Phew - especially when there was so many of us - there was a lot riding on my decision.

Ivan made us learn a few Latin dances to take home with us (it was good for working off the wings too)
For the 1st hour - we had no lights so I quess that is another first-
