mmmm yum!

My favorite food was on the menu this morning - empanadas made out of flour. I got to help the sister who I think makes the best so consequently - I have learned her secrets. The one in the front is my first effort - you can tell it just doesn't look the same as the others. Maybe if I practice hard I might be able to make some for you when I come home - of course they are dripping in fat but hey - one can't always be worried about that - especially in this country!

So if you are going to make them when you get back to NZ - how am I supposed to taste them? I've tried imagining, but all I keep coming up with is Ravioli. How far off am I?

I just had a close-up look and I think I can see sugar on them. That Ravioli image is definitely gone.

Daniel - it is a pastry made out of flour (normal wheat flour that is - they make flour out of everything here) then they are rolled into balls, fresh cheese is added in the middle and then they are folded up. Doesn't sound too hard does it but I was not doing too well with the pinching the edges thing (they like it done a certain way). Then the empanada is deep fried and sugar is sprinkled on top - as I say mmmm yum!

Ok, they sounded really nice until I read that you put cheese in the middle! How about subsituting it for chocolate... ;)
